Document Legalisation - Malaysia

Authentication of documents in the UK and Ireland for use in Malaysia

Most official documents, if not all, which have been issued in Ireland or the UK, will have to be authenticated and legalised before being presented and used in Malaysia. The authentication and legalisation of documents verifies that the origin of a document is authentic by confirming that the signatures, stamps, and seals that appear on the document are genuine. The legalisation process can at times appear daunting and complex, but at Docsbase Translation and Legalisation Services UK and Ireland we carry out the whole process for you from start to finish, promptly returning the fully legalised documents to you by mail or courier.

Which types of documents need to be authenticated in order to be used in Malaysia?

At the Dublin and London offices of Docsbase Translation and Legalisation Services UK and Ireland we manage the legalisation process of both commercial and personal documents including (but by no means limited to):

Legalisation steps for documents originating from Ireland and the UK, for use in Malaysia

Once Docsbase Translation and Legalisation Services UK and Ireland receive your document, the first step, in the event that the document is a photocopy and not the original, is to arrange for the photocopy to be certified as authentic by a Notary Public. This may include contacting the issuing authority for verification of the document’s authenticity. The Notary Public will then sign and stamp the document.

Depending on the nature of your document, it will then need to be authenticated by various official entities.  Docsbase Translation and Legalisation Services UK and Ireland have vast experience in this field, and will coordinate with all relevant entities to complete these steps. Documents which are issued from the UK are legalised by Apostille at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. If your documents originate from Ireland, our Dublin office will arrange for them to be sent to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for Apostille legalisation. This Apostille certifies that the signatures appearing on your document are authentic.

Once all relevant steps above have been completed, the final step is the official legalisation from the Embassy of Malaysia in Dublin (for documents issued in Ireland) or London (for documents issued on the UK). The Embassy affixes a stamp on the back of the document, which is then signed by an Embassy official, completing the legalisation process. The Dublin and London offices of Docsbase Translation and Legalisation Services UK and Ireland then promptly returns the document to you by post or courier (whichever one you prefer).
