What is Apostille certification?
The Apostille certification authenticates the translation, document and/or any signatures present on the document such
as those issued during notarization of the document. It certifies the country of origin of the document, the conditions
under which the document has been signed and the identities of both the signatory and the authority who has certified the document.
The Apostille legalization or certification is typically stamped directly onto the document, but may be attached to it.
Why would I need an Apostille?
Apostille certification may be required by any country signed to the Hague Convention of 1961 in order for them to accept the document as authentic. For example, documents in Italian prepared in Ireland which are destined for use in Italy or elsewhere must be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dublin for Apostille certification. Most commonly, certified, notarized translations of legal documents are issued with the Apostille stamp to verify the authenticity of the notarization of the translation.
